Gifted Birchbox

I have always been curious about beauty subscription boxes, but was never serious enough to subscribe to one. I was really excited when my sister-in-law gifted a 6 month subscription service to Birchbox. I got my first box last week and it was like a Christmas all over again. I can't wait to get surprise goody boxes every month for the next 6 months. I know sampling products are not as rewarding as actually buying something in full size, but I think it is super fun to try just random products without having to think. So here is the overview of my first Birchbox:

Dr.Lipp Miracle Balm : The tube is super tiny, and the mostly feels empty.  Out of the tube, the texture is similar to vasaline, and has odd yellowish green color. It feels comfortable and moisturizing on the lips. My lips get super dry during the winter and this balm instantly relieves it. The downside is that it does not seem to help prevent further drying of my lips.

Catherine Malandrino Style de Paris Perfume : It has an extremely strong musky scent that gave me headache a moment I tried it on. I think it is little too old school for my taste.

Beauty Protector Protect and Detangle : It is supposed to be multipurpose heat protector, detangler and leave in conditioner.I tried this one a few times after shower before drying. It strongly smells like vanilla. Honestly I am not sure if it does anything.

Eyeko Fat Liquid Eyeliner : Just when I was considering to find a new eyeliner, the Birchbox had a full size of Eyeko Fat Liquid Eyeliner in this month's box. My lids are oily, so most eyeliners don't even stay on for 2 hours. I used it for a date last weekend and it stayed put all night. Although I have not tried it all day, I have a high hope.  I was so used to super thin liners that I was surprised how easy it was to make a thick winged liner with this thick tip. I did not have to layer or widen the line. It was super quick and easy. Highly recommend it!

The Soap and Paper Factory Green Tea Hand Cream : It was light weight and moisturizing enough for maintaining hands that are not dry. It had an overwhelming amount of fragrance, which I am not a big fan of. Otherwise, I thought it was a great light weight non-greasy hand cream. I love travel size hand creams in my purses to be used throughout the day. I will probably use it up by carrying it in my purse, definitely won't purchase it in a full size though.

On the final note, I adore the box and excited that I discovered a new eyeliner and lip balm. I can't wait to see what I will get in my next box.
