I have finally found the winter boots that I searched for. I have been looking for it over a year. I have been surviving on my classic uggs for a year and finally realized that they were not doing it for me in snow storms and winds. After much frustrating research and trying many boots, I bought Ugg Adirondack II Boots (nordstrom has an amazing free shipping both ways) in sand.
They are four colors available: greyish black, obsidian (dark brown), otter (lighter brown) and sand (off white). I would recommend the obsidian and sand (prefer this one myself). I personally do not like the otter and black-grey color. I was concerned about having light boots for serious weather like mud, snow and pretty much everything else, but it is not a problem at all for Ugg Adirondack. It is easily cleanable with damp cloth and does not attract much of mud and dirt.
It has vibrame outsole, which is perfect for serious weather. It is very comfortable and safe for icy weather. It has sheepskin lining, which is just amazing. It feels just like the classic uggs: soft and heavenly, which I could not find any shoes that has this. So if you are looking for the soft cushiony lining, then I can assure you that there is no other option for you. It is extremely warm, so I don't recommend it for any weather above 30 degree. Colder the better. Otherwise your feet will sweat like crazy and nobody wants that.
As far as sizing goes, it runs large. So order a half size smaller. I usually wear 6.5 except sandals. When I tried 6.5 of these boots, it was way to big on me even with wool socks. Although 6 was little tight with tick socks, it seems like they stretch, so do not worry if they seem little too tight on you.
I have love hate relationship with the lace. It is very sturdy and not easily doable, so I always have to do double knot, otherwise they come loose. But the sturdiness of the laces make it easier to take on and off the shoes.
You can wear them with any pants. I prefer skinnies, but they are plenty of room for the extra fabric if you prefer boot cut, because you can control the space with the laces. They look super cute although they are pretty bulky. I don't think there is any other shoe that blends fashion and serious utility so perfectly.
I originally bought Ugg Adirondack Tall Boots in obsidian (dark brown), because I thought that they are probably warmer and more appropriate for snowy weather. They were pretty much identical to the shorter ones, but they do not come in color sand. I had a couple of problems. First they are way too heavy. I felt like I was doing weights when I walked, which I absolutely hated. Having to deal with snow was bad enough, I did not want to deal with heavy boots in addition to it. Also the laces were just obnoxiously long. Lastly, it was way too warm. Even in the coldest weather, I felt like I wanted to take them off. So unless you constantly work outside in seriously snowy weather, you most likely would not need the tall ones. The shorter ones will do the job just fine. So that was it. I hope it was helpful. Let me know if you have any questions.
