SK-II Whitening and Brightening Serum and Cream Review

SK-II is an Asian luxury skincare brand that is slowly introducing itself to the US market. Sephora recently started carrying SK-II, and I believe they are counters opening up at major cities, which is really exciting. What is not exciting is the price the products come in, but there is a reason why it is a luxury brand.

Brightening skincare products are super popular in Asia to brighten skin and bring radiance to skin for youthful and healthy look. So it is not a surprise that SK-II has it whitening/brightening skincare products. I suffer from hyperpigmentation from acne, so I bought SK-II whitening source derm-brightener and whitening spots specialist serum. I finished both of them and thought I would tell you if each of them is worth $130-$135.

SK-II Brightening Derm Specialist

: is a gel serum that promises to improve discoloration, uneven skin tone and dark spots. It is observed into skin instantly, leaving it silky smooth, which is very pleasant. Surprisingly, it is the best brightening product I have ever used as I saw result within a week. My hubby usually comments that I am tanner than him as he is seriously super pale, but after using this product for a week, he said "how are you getting paler?" lol. When a guy notices a difference in your skin, then something is really working.

However, I did not notice any difference with my hyperpigmentations and dark spots, it does not work well as spot treatment, but does miracle for general uneven skin tone by brightening. Does it worth the money? If brightening is something you look for, absolutely yes. Would I repurchase it? I totally would after I finish trying other serums and treatments from the brand that cost fortunes. Who knows if I would even make enough money to try them all in my life time.

SK-II Whitening Source Skin Brightener

: It was recommended to be used with the SK-II whitening derm specialist. It is supposed to hydrate skin while brightening overall texture. SK-II Whitening Source Skin Brightener is probably one of the most bizarre skincare products I have tried.

First, the packaging is interesting. It is in a tub that is completely sealed all around. When you turn the top in the direction of the arrow, a cream product comes out of the a little slit on the top. You have to turn just right, so you do not end up with too much product. Since you can't put it back, it is a waste, which is sad.

The product is observed into skin instantly, leaving skin super soft to touch, but I felt like there was a layer of thin film on my skin, which was unpleasant. Interestingly, my skin was radiant and brighter instantly, which is the first time I have seen a skincare product have that quick result. Sadly, the effect is not very long lasting and I did not see my skin getting brighter in general, unlike the serum described above.

Although you might think you might be able to use it as a moisturizer, it is not a moisturizer and I don't think it is meant for that purpose. For the price, the product just does not do enough, so I would not recommend this one.

In summary, if you are looking for general skin tone brightener, then

SK-II Brightening Derm Specialist

is an excellent option besides the price tag, but I would skip the

SK-II Whitening Source Skin Brightener

, which does not have much of a long term effect.
